The Book Thief’s story starts, when Liesel Meminger, our main protagonist, decides to escape reality by writing. Writing helpd her conquer all the challenges that came along in life, especially when she least expected them. Yet, she bravely carried on and tried to envision a  happier life. Despite her losses she had managed to stand back up and  gain experience, confidence and unforgettable friends.

Death vividly narrates The Book Thief‘s story with tenderness, and empathy. At the age of 11, the Book Thieve’s Communist mother is forced to seperate with Liesel, leaving her alone in a chaotic world with no one but her foster parents to watch  over her. As much as  Liesel tries to adapt to the her new foster-child life in Himmel street, she keeps having flashbacks and constant nightmares of her younger brother‘s death with only her papa’s shoulder to cry on. Liesel was the easiest target to take advantage of in school, and was  bullied and abused by teachers. Courtsey of Liesel’s unhappiness and loneliness she starts reading books and creating her own identity, known as „The Book Thief“. Book thievery brang joy, relieved her of stress and was a guilty pleasure of Liesel‘s.  Because of words Liesel was lucky enough to be the only one in Himmel street to survive the bombimg. During the course of her life, the Book Thief, falls in love with a jewish man, Max Vandenbourg, that was hidden in her basement. In addition, becomes best friends with a „yellow haired skinny athlete,“ Rudy, writes her own book that is found by Death and finally „falls into death’s embrace“ at a very old age in Sydney.
