The Book Thief is a 2005 historical novel by Aust
ralian
author Markus Zusak and is his most popular work.
Published in 2005, The Book Thief became an international bestseller and
was translated into several languages. It was adapted into a 2013 feature film of the same name. (PLOT)
After the death of Liesel's young brother, Liesel arrives at the home of her
new foster parents, Hans and Rosa Hubermann. During her time there, she is
exposed to the horrors of the Nazo regime, caught between the
innocence of childhood and the maturity demanded by her destructive
surroundings. As the political situation in Germany deteriorates, her foster
parents harbor a Jewish boy named Max. Hans, who has developed a close
relationship with Liesel, teaches her to read in secret. Recognizing the power
of writing and sharing the written word, Liesel not only begins to steal books
that the Nazi party is looking to destroy, but also writes her own stories, and
shares the power of language with Max.
When i first read the book I didnt
expect anything. Nothing suprising or interesting. I don’t like books. But this
book caught my attention. My favourite part was when Hans Hubermann was
teaching Liesel how to read.
Character
My favourite
character was Hans Hubermann and I’m going to tell you something about dear
Hans. Hans is very quiet and is one of the nicest to his step-daughter Liesel. His
wife is Rosa Hubermann, which doesn't appear at first as the nicest person, but
through out the book we find out that she isn't as bad person as it appears at
first.Hans is silently against Nazis.

REVIEW
IT is a
1986 horror novel by American author Stephen King. It was his 22nd book and 18th novel
written under his own name. The story follows the experiences of seven children
as they are terrorized by an Entity that exploits the fears and phobias of its victims to
disguise itself while hunting its prey. "It" primarily appears in the
form of a clown to attract its preferred prey of young children. This book is
really good and I mean really good. You should try reading it yourself. When i
first read the book i wasn’t expecting anything interesting, I just thought
that it would be the same as the other books i read. Boring and not
interesting. Yes, some of you might think ‘‘How could you find books boring!
They’re are so interesting.‘‘ But believe me, I’m the kind of person who sits
home and plays videogames with his brother and doesn’t care about anything else.
But when i read the book something changed. IT was the only book i found joy
in. Lots of times I felt either sadness or happiness or sometimes even fear. I
really like this book and you should read it aswell.
Character
I’m going to talk about Richie Tozier, because he’s the
funniest in the group. He wore thick black glasses and had huge front buck teeth
which earned him the name "Bucky Beaver" by others in his school,
though he was later dubbed "Trashmouth" by the Losers due to his foul
language and loud mouth that often got him into trouble. The other Losers often
used the phrase "Beep beep, Richie" whenever they needed to silence
him. Although Richie misbehaved a lot in school, he received straight high
marks in school besides his grades in behavior. Before Richie joined the
Losers' Club, Bill noted seeing him insulting Henry Bowers and his gang,
resulting in him getting chased and beaten until he cried.
Richie is
known for his hobby of doing Voices and impersonations, although when he is
younger most of them were awful and sounded much like himself.

Review :
The book is
about a girl who when she was ten was sent to a foster family that will take
care of her. It is also about the adventures she accomplished it is also
moderated by death himself so sometimes it is about a character who died in the
book. The book is playing role in the time of WORLD WAR II.
This book is a
very nice book when you reed it you feel like you are in the shadows in the
book (a secret spy who wants to know much more). What I really liked about the
book is that you can “feel the book” but not only that I also loved the fact
that it was about two best friends who are doing different types of things
together like for example they are steeling food or they play football with
kids from the street of they just hang out near the river or they go and give
people there clean clothes. There is also the part in the book when she has the
hardest time of her life(Liesel’s) and that is when she sees everybody who she
loved dead.Yes I know !!SPOILER ALERT
!!SPOILER ALERT !! But yeah the book is really great .But if you want me tell
you when the safest part is it is from page five hundred . If you love books
from wars that this book is really for you because of when it is and what is
happening in the back ground so let’s call it a war book .The book will tell
you the truth about the word wars how EVIL AND CRUEL it actually is not only to
the soldiers but also to their families how both of them are suffering and if
you don’t believe me than try and read the book thief without feeling sorry or
at least a bit of sympathy to the people in the book.

The Book Thief’s story starts, when Liesel
Meminger, our main protagonist, decides to escape reality by writing. Writing helpd her conquer all the challenges
that came along in life, especially when she least expected them. Yet, she
bravely carried on and tried to envision a happier life. Despite her losses she had managed to stand
back up and gain experience, confidence and
unforgettable friends.
Death vividly
narrates The Book Thief‘s story with tenderness, and empathy. At the age of 11,
the Book Thieve’s Communist mother is forced to seperate with Liesel, leaving
her alone in a chaotic world with no one but her foster parents to watch over her. As much as Liesel tries to adapt to the her new foster-child
life in Himmel street, she keeps having flashbacks and constant nightmares of
her younger brother‘s death with only her papa’s shoulder to cry on. Liesel was
the easiest target to take advantage of in school, and was bullied and abused by teachers. Courtsey of Liesel’s
unhappiness and loneliness she starts reading books and creating her own
identity, known as „The Book Thief“. Book thievery brang joy, relieved her of
stress and was a guilty pleasure of Liesel‘s. Because of words Liesel was lucky enough to be
the only one in Himmel street to survive the bombimg. During the course of her
life, the Book Thief, falls in love with a jewish man, Max Vandenbourg, that was
hidden in her basement. In addition, becomes best friends with a „yellow haired
skinny athlete,“ Rudy, writes her own book that is found by Death and finally „falls
into death’s embrace“ at a very old age in Sydney.

The Book Thief review

This book is a good book but not for me. When i was reading it i really wasn't enjoying it
much. I found it a bit boring and stressful. I don't really like books about the WW2 or WW1
because the books are usually long and boring. The beginning of the book when she with
her brother were in the train and her brother died that I liked because it was a little bit crime
and horror and that i like. The rest of the book was quiet boring. I think that this book for
some people makes them realise that so many people in Germany became victims of the
war, that they weren't all evil as they are often portrayed. It is not the kind of story that has
you crying one moment and laughing the next. The sadness surrounding Liesel's story
creeps up on you, until suddenly you realise that it was like this for so many, and how
serious it was, and is. I would recommend this book for people that are more than 15 years
old and to people that likes to read about WW2 or WW1. I would give this book 4/10.

Liesel Meminger’s story begins
in Molching, Germany. The story takes place during the Second World War. At the
tender age of 11, Liesel was forced to say her last goodbye with her family.
For Liesel‘s own safety, she lived with her foster parents, in Himmel street
with no siblings, just her loyal and loving neighbour, Rudy Steiner. It was
hard for Liesel to leave her past behind and start a new life. She had to cope
with all her losses on her own. She was being humiliated and picked on for not
being very educated. Liesel’s foster parents were nice people, but they had
their own way of showing love. Thanks to Liesel’s foster papa, she learnt to
read and write, which was later on her key to success and survival. By the time
Liesel turned 13 nazis started to arrest jews and kill them in concentration
camps. Luckily enough, a jew named Max Vandenburg manages to escape the nazis
and go into hiding. He hides in Liesel’s basement for two years and eventually
leaves for the family's safety. When Liesel first saw Max, it was love at first
sight. A short while after Max left, Liesel’s father Hans went to war for
helping a Jew on the street. He returns to his family after a year’s service in
war. As time passes Liesel’s heart is shattered into pieces, since Max is
nowhere to be seen. One fine sunny day, she sees him marching with other Jews
through her street. She runs up to Max, although she has been warned. From that
day on Liesel felt a blank space within her. To earn some extra money Liesel
washed laundry for rich people who paid her for her services. Liesel was always
tempted and excited to go to one house specifically in 8 Grande Starase. There
was a woman who always let her into a library of her’s to read books. One day
the woman gave Liesel a blank book of her own, in which she can write her own
story. From that day Liesel always went down into the basement and wrote. Words
saved her life. Apart from writing book thievery was her guilty pleasure. One
night Liesel was writing in her basement and the sirens didn’t alarm people in
time, therefore nobody went into hiding. That night Liesel was the only person
from Himmel street to survive. She cried her heart out after seeing her dead
foster parents and her amazing neighbour. The Book Thief subconsciously met
with death that night. If Liesel wasn’t writing that book, death would have
never found it in the basement and read it himself hundreds of times. Yes, the
book is narrated by death. The only other person to survive was Rudy’s father
who wasn’t present in Himmel street. He came back from war after the bombing.
Max Vandenburg, the Jew that was believed to be dead, comes to see Liesel after
the war.

Liesel
Meminger was a young German girl that lived with her
foster parents. She had dark brown eyes which wasn’t very safe to have during
that time. She also had quite short curly blonde hair. At the start of the book
she was ten years old. She was without words and didn’t know how to read but
luckily her foster dad taught her how to read later in the book. She also had a
younger brother named Werner Meminger who sadly passed away at the beginning of
the book. Liesel then started going to school and met a good partner in crime
named Rudy Steiner. Rudy wanted Liesel to be more than just his friend so he raced
Liesel for a kiss but both of them ended up losing. As a mentioned before
Liesel didn’t know how to read which was a problem in school because other kids
made fun of her for not knowing how to read and even bigger problem was when
her class teacher asked her to write or read something.
